I am John DePlanche and I am a cradle Catholic and attended Catholic schools throughout my childhood. I owe a great debt to my grandmother and mother for instilling in me the need for faith. After joining the Air Force shortly after my graduation, I always remained faithful to attending Mass every Sunday and on Holy Days. I kept up this "duty" into my 40's when I lived my Cursillo in 2008. Cursillo increased in me the richness of my faith and showed me that I have a "duty" to give back. Cursillo showed me that the time I always thought hard to find was actually time that was misspent on what really mattered least. Christ is counting on me!
Over the past 15 years, I have found many things "Church" that have enriched my life and I pray they have enriched others as well. Since Cursillo, I meet weekly with a wonderful group of fellow Cursillistas who help keep me accountable, I joined the Knights of Columbus, I was a member of the Pastoral Council, I volunteer with the Sunday Morning Coffee Hour, and I also pick up monthly for the Food Pantry.
Overall, I never thought I would have grown so much over the past 15 years but I am thankful I am no longer just a pew warmer doing a duty, but now I am doing MY duty! God Bless you all.
